Welcome to Baby Gazette

Baby Gazette was born as a mean of communication between the members of my Advisory Committee and I, when I was directing the Infancy, Childhood And Relationship Enrichment (ICARE) Program at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) from 1998 to 2003. Together, in a short amount of time, with unsubstantial sum of $ grants, hard work, high energy and dedication of many professionals, ICARE Program grew from zero ground to over 30 active programs, providing preventive oriented support and health related interventions for the at high risk children birth to five years of age and their families in their communities.

The Advisory Committee had a significant role in the developmental process of the ICARE Program throughout Los Angeles County. The Advisory Committee included professionals from the LACDMH – ICARE Program member agencies, and other professionals in the community actively serving this population in variety of capacities. I am delighted to announce the rebirth of Baby Gazette to maintain my communication and contact with these professionals.

Additionally, during the past two years, the circle of my collaboration and service delivery activities to this population has expanded. Now, I am a proud member of the Zero To Three (ZTT) fellows. I owe the rebirth of Baby Gazette to ZTT’s support as a step forward to fulfill my dream of furthering my services in this field.

The new Baby Gazette is in a new format and accessible via the Internet. You will be able to subscribe, unsubscribe, and access the archive for the past issues, beginning with this one.

Columns of the Baby Gazette will address updates on projects and social activities related to the field of Infant-family and Early childhood interventions with which I am directly and/or indirectly involved. Field-related reports on recent scientific research findings, Promising Practices, and Announcements on new and upcoming resources, trainings and educational opportunities around the globe will be included. Not as an endorsement; just as information. A segment of the Newsletter will include specific mental health issues related to the indigenous populations around the world. Periodically, special reports that impact our field will be covered too.

I hope you find Baby Gazette helpful for you and area of your interest. I would like to receive your comments, ideas and suggestions to make Baby Gazette a valuable resource in our field and community. You may send me information, announcements, news and photos you would like to be included in the following issues of the Baby Gazette. Please send them through the email to the address in the side bar.

Thank you for your interest and your partnership.
